I am an Italian multidisciplinary artist, illustrator, and scholar based in the United Kingdom.
I have one degree in Painting and one in Philosophy. I specialised in History, in Postcolonial Studies, and in Women's Studies.
I have experience working as a Literature, History and Philosophy teacher in Italian state schools, collaborating with independent publishing houses and international magazines, both as author and illustrator, and I am currently continuing my studies in England as a researcher in the field of Gender Studies. As an artist, I have taken part in group and solo exhibitions.
My artistic practice is procedural and characterised by research-based projects where the medium and the techniques always follow the research question. My creative investigation focuses both on visual approach, concentrating on drawing, on the use of images and photographs, and on critical writing, using auto-ethnography and reflexivity as methodologies.
All my work is characterised by an intersectional approach that takes into account gender, race, class, sexuality, colonialism, disability and geography.
I am interested in feminism, social injustice and political violence.
My studies focus on women's history and literature, on working class women's agency, on the socio-economic barriers that prevent working-class women from accessing knowledge and higher education, and on epistemic gender-based violence.
I am also passionate about – and I keep exploring – the relation between personal and political; the role of the stereotype in the construction of ideas; the deconstruction of rhetorical devices; the role of emotions in knowledge-building; the invisibility of discriminated categories in cultural spaces; and the relationship between patriarchy, colonialism and climate disaster.
I have always drawn, written and cared about women, their experiences and narratives, long before I discovered feminism.
Even though I have never had a smartphone (and I currently don't have Facebook, Instagram or TikTok!) I love connecting, sharing know-how and collaborating with other people!
